Substance abuse has been a problem for a long time. But recent years have raised the problem to a crisis. New Hampshire has come together to fight this scourge, but more must be done. Naomi believes that we need to approach it by: supporting prevention efforts in health care settings, schools and workplaces; increasing funding for both inpatient and outpatient long-term treatment and recovery programs for those who are suffering; properly funding and supporting law enforcement so they can catch drug dealers and disrupt their trafficking networks; and improve monitoring of prescriptions for opioids and other drugs. She also supports suing pharmaceutical companies if they failed to inform and educate medical professionals and patients about the high risk of addiction, even if the drug was taken for a short period of time.
Naomi knows that a key to combatting this crisis is the expansion of Medicaid and she will fight to protect it.
